Patient Enhancement Program
While our clients are hospitalized or recovering in a rehabilitation facility, they are given the opportunity to participate in our Patient Enhancement Program. This program uses scientifically supported methods shown to promote healing and elevate patient mood. Methods such as pet, music, art, photo and aromatherapies, in addition to social and spiritual methods, are made available to patients by our Companions. These therapies are an effort to enhance our patients' hospital stay and keep their mood lifted.
A visit from a certified dog may enhance a hospital stay by improving vital signs, decrease stress and anxiety, reduce the need for medication or just simply put a smile on a patient's face.

Music makes good medicine by dulling pain, reducing stress, lowering blood pressure and boosting mood.

Hanging beautiful pieces of art in a patient room provides a fresh, positive conversation topic while promoting an enriched healing environment.

Our Companion takes a profile of the patient's interests and hobbies and then plans movies, music and activities based on these interests.

Enjoy the healing effects of the sun. We will encourage the sun into our patient's rooms, or take a walk in the hospital garden, if available. If healing in the room is the only option, we will bring the outside in by viewing the "Healing Power of Nature" video.

Providing a fresh, lightly scented item in a patient room may assist in relaxation and provide an enhanced healing environment.

We can have community groups, such as a church, girl scout troop or school class adopt a patient. These groups can send prayers, cards, pictures and well wishes to the patient.

Active participation in a patients' healing and sense of well-being is important to the recovery process. Activities such as a life story or photo memory book encourage this human interaction.

Illness can evoke a range of difficult emotions and tough spiritual questions. Many times a visit from a chaplain or interactive guided imagery may provide the outlet needed to assist our patients in sustaining their spirits.
